So, What is PCOS?

PCOS is a syndrome manifested with amenorrhea (no menstruation), hirsutism and obesity associated with enlarged cystic ovaries. It is a heterogeneous disorder characterized by excess androgen production by the ovaries that interferes with the reproductive, endocrine & metabolic functions. This is a common endocrine disorder affecting 5- 10% women of reproductive age that is 1 in 10 gets affected. Incidence is increasing rapidly with change in life style & stress, most frequently the causing sub- infertility in women. Ayurveda elaborately explains PCOS as Aarthava Kshaya.
